Piercings must be cleaned twice daily—once in the morning and once at night.  An additional cleaning is necessary if the piercing comes in contact with any irritant such as shampoo, cologne, hair preparations, cosmetics or after exercising.  All of these contain ingredients that could potentially cause infection during the healing period.

Using a Q-Tip, swab both sides of the piercing with the SAFE Piercing Care Solution and rotate or push jewelry back and forth through the piercing twice.  Using a clean Q-Tip, remove any matter that may have come out of the piercing site.

CAUTION:  AVOID USING ALCOHOL OR HYDROGEN PEROXIDE BASED PRODUCTS.

These chemicals are not effective in eradicating bacteria and may cause excessive drying of the skin.  If you need to clean the build-up off your jewelry between the morning and nightly cleaning, use a Q-Tip and warm water.  Rotating the jewelry will work the solution into the piercing, which is essential for proper healing.  Finish by cleaning jewelry with the solution.

You can take Ibuprofen, Advil or Motrin for any discomfort or swelling. Ice can also be helpful in order to prevent and help with any swelling or pain.

For mouth piercings, rinse with Listerine or any antiseptic mouthwash for 3 seconds after each meal, soft drink and cigarette. Rinsing with warm salt water may also help. Stay away from spicy foods, acidic juices and hot beverages for the first few days. It is also essential that you avoid dairy products and beer for the first 48 hours. During the first few days, eat only soft foods such as mashed potatoes, jell-o, soup broth, applesauce, etc.

You may change the body jewelry if desired after the recommended length of time. Make sure the jewelry you change to is the same gauge/thickness or thicker.  If you go smaller/thinner your body could reject it.

Even though your piercing appears to be healed, it's still tender on the inside, so treat it gently.

Don't go without body jewelry in your piercing until after one year, or the piercing may close.

For the first year, quality hypo-allergenic body jewelry must be worn at all times.  This will assure proper healing and avoid unnecessary irritation to the new piercing.

We recommend surgical steel, titanium, 14kt gold, 24kt gold over surgical steel or niobium body jewelry.

To ensure that you do not lose your threaded bead on your jewelry, check the ball on your barbell daily to make sure it is secure.

If a problem or infection develops, we highly recommend a product we carry called South Side Sea Solutions. This is a solution that has shown incredible results for infections and general

irritations. It also works very well on newly stretched ears that are irritated or sore. Also read about Care for Infected Piercings and The Bubble.
